Zambia - Western Zambia and Barotse Land

Liuwa Plains National Park is renowned for its transformation into the spectacle of the second largest wildebeest migration in the world. This area is one of the few remaining pristine wilderness areas in the world, which never fails to leave one with a deep sense of peace and harmony.

The birdlife is abundant and the dramatic storms with lightning ripple across the horizon, creating fantastic photographic opportunities. You are likely to see large flocks of crowned and wattled cranes in their natural habitat.

With the onset of the rains, the massive herds of blue wildebeest arrive from Angola, traversing the plains in their thousands, very often mingling with zebra along the way and gathering around water holes and pans.

Unusual antelope found include oribi, red lechwe, steenbok, duiker, tsessebe and roan antelope. Among the predators are jackal, serval, African wildcat, wild dog as well as lion and hyena.
